State will spur growth in all regions, Deputy President William Ruto says

Deputy President William Ruto has said that nobody will stop the Jubilee government from initiating development projects in any region of the country.

Speaking at a church service in Migori County where he presided over a funds drive in aid of St Joseph's Ombo Catholic Church, Ruto said the Constitution does not allow any county to be marginalised.

He however, challenged county government leaders to defend themselves on development in their devolved units, saying they are the ones who will limit progress in their counties by failing to account for monies allocated to them by the national government.

"The devolution that was brought by the Constitution brings development to all regions and does not marginalise any area, whether the people voted for the Government or not," said Ruto.

He added that development in Kenya will only depend on policies, ideas, programmes and development profiles that the elected leaders shall table before the national and the county governments.

"We have one Government that is for the entire country. We are going to unite the whole country and it will not be possible to marginalise any part of the nation anymore. No region shall be denied a rightful share just because of the political alignment of its people," said Ruto.

 EDUCATION FUNDS

Referring to the incident when rowdy youths disrupted President Uhuru Kenyatta's function in Migori last month, Ruto said together with President Kenyatta, they will visit the area whenever there will be need to come and flag other development projects.

"Nobody will stop us from coming to Migori. We shall again come with the President to bring some more development, until such time we shall feel our mandate as the Government has been completed," said Ruto.

He challenged county governments to initiate projects that will directly impact citizens.

"We saw the constituency development funds doing lots of wonders in constituencies and that was just Sh60 million. How about the Sh5.3 billion for a county like Migori? We should be able to see great developments," he said.

The DP also said the Government has increased funding for free education and county allocations for development.

He was accompanied by Senate Majority Leader Prof Kithure Kindiki, Isiolo South MP Joseph Samal, MPs David Gikaria (Nakuru Town) and Kisoi Munyao of Mbooni Constituency among other local leaders.
