Two bodyguards, civilian charged over Makueni shooting that left six injured

Makueni, Kenya: The two Makueni bodyguards implicated in the Tuesday shooting in which six people were injured have been charged in court.

Also arraigned before the Makueni Acting Principal Magistrate R.Koech was Amos Mwanzia Kefa, who faced a charge of malicious damage to property belonging to the county assembly.

The body guards, Ndunda Muthoka attached to the Speaker Stephen Ngelu and Francis Daido attached Majority Leader Francis Mutuku, faced a charge of unlawfully wounding the six.

Muthoka faced an extra charge of being in possession of one extra ammunition of 9mm caliber contrary to section 114 of the Fire arms Act of 2009.

The two body guards were accused of wounding Makueni Governor Prof Kivutha Kibwana's bodyguard William Kinoti, the county chief of staff Dauglas Mbilu, Assembly assistant sergeant at arms Brian Mutua, and an Administration police officer Yakob Bulle.

Others were a former defunct Makueni County council councillor Francis Mutisya alias Orengo and a church minister, Festus Nyamai.

The two security guards denied the charges and were released on a Sh50,000 cash bail or a bond of Sh100,000. They paid the bail and were released. Kefa also denied the charges facing him and was released upon payment of a Sh20,000 bail.

His case will be mentioned on October 8, 2014 pending hearing on November 24, 2014.

The case for the two body guards will be mentioned on October 7, 2014 while the case will be heard on November 26, 2014.
