Embu Governor Martin Wambora sheds light on summons

Embu Governor Martin Wambora, will not appear before the Senate until his impeachment case pending in court is heard and determined.

Wambora said he had been invited by the clerk of the Senate for inquiries into the last financial year accounts, but could not go because of a court conservatory order barring the Senate from summoning him until the case is determined.

"I received a letter addressed to me as the Governor of Embu County from the clerk of the Senate on August 29, 2014 inviting me to answer to an inquiry into the Embu County accounts for the financial year 2012/2013," he said in a press statement.

He said he instructed a team of competent officers to respond to the issues raised by the Senate regarding the auditor's report.

"As a believer in the rule of law, I could not appear personally before the Senate, but I sent the right team to respond to the queries," read the statement further.

However, the Senate Public Accounts and Investment Committee reportedly sent away the two officials because they were not accompanied by deputy governor Dorothy Nditi.
