Robbers break into hotel, rape and steal

Two women aged 36 and 66 years were yesterday night gang-raped by 10 robbers in a three-hour ordeal at a Kisii hotel.

Confirming the incident, Kisii County police chief Simon Kiragu said the robbers, who were armed with pistols and wore jungle uniform, tied the watchman at the gate, ransacked the hotel rooms while demanding Sh10 million from hotel workers and eventually made away with eight flat screen television sets, 12 gas cylinders and Sh300,000 from one of the hotel guests.

"We have launched investigations and urge residents to give us information that could lead to the culprits' arrest," Mr Kiragu said.

The two women were rushed to Kisii Referral Hospital where hospital director Enock Ondari said they were stable and would be discharged soon.
