Despite being held to a 2-2 tie by arch-rivals AFC Leopards, Gor Mahia players were beneficiaries of a Sh75,000 cash donation collected by fans.
The money was handed over to the players on Sunday at the end of the derby in appreciation of their performance.
Fans have been collecting money from Wednesday to reward the team currently at the top of the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) with 38 points. The cash donation was a major boost to the players who have had to go for weeks without receiving their allowances owing to cash crunch in the club.
