Gideon Mung'aro's supporters give CORD 24-hour ultimatum

Supporters of Kilifi North MP Gideon Mung'aro have protested a move by CORD to remove him from the post of Minority party whip over his alleged close ties with Jubilee.

Speaking at a hotel in Kilifi yesterday, the supporters who included an official of Maendeleo Ya Wanawake Organisation threatened to withdraw their support for ODM leader Raila Odinga and leave CORD if the decision is not reversed within 24 hours.

Yesterday, it was reported in the media that CORD's Parliamentary Group had resolved to axe Mung'aro, who is currently out of the country, from the position for lack of commitment to CORD.

Mung'aro's supporters claimed CORD was taking his support at the Coast for granted and described him as a pillar for ODM and the opposition coalition in the region.

"As CORD political leaders in Kilifi county, we are not impressed by the decision taken by the top leadership of CORD to remove Mung'aro from the position of the coalition's whip in Parliament on claims that he has failed to deliver and we want him to be given his seat back,"said Hassan Mombasa, a member of the Kilifi County Assembly.

Mombasa said Mungaro should not be victimised for working with the Jubilee government to bring development to his people and accused CORD of frustrating him.
