ODM probe team finalises investigations

Kenya: The five-member task force formed to probe the aborted ODM elections has retreated to write a final report that could help unravel the mystery surrounding the “men in black” who disrupted the February 28 polls.

The Standard has since established that the team led by Jotham Nyukuri has finalised interviews with several party officials to establish what exactly preceded, as well as what followed, the botched National Delegates Convention.

“I cannot tell you where we are exactly but we expect to compile the report in the next one or two weeks. We will tell party members exactly what we have gathered with regards to the botched elections for the party to take appropriate action,” said a member of the probe team.

Other members of the probe team include Harold Kipchumba, Isaiah Mandala, Jotham Arwa and Mutalaki Mwashimba. The team was set up by ODM party leader Raila Odinga following the bungling of the process to install new national office bearers.

The taskforce was given 30 days upon its unveiling, over a month ago, to probe allegations that some party members hired the “men in black” to disrupt the elections. The “men black” stormed the Kasarani gymnasium and destroyed ballot boxes.
