NAIROBI, KENYA: President Kenyatta’s kin was on Tuesday night carjacked and robbed of cash and valuables before being dumped on the roadside in Nairobi.

Mrs Jean Njeri Muhoho, 56 an aunt to the president, was carjacked from along Uhuru Highway by three gunmen who drove her around the city for more than two hours before she was dumped along Northern by pass near International School in Gigiri area.

Mrs Muhoho who is the wife to former Kenya Airports Authority boss George Muhoho told police she was in the company of a 25 year old man when a gang of three forced their way into their Nissan Wingroad salon car at about 8.30 pm.

Police said she told them they were in a traffic jam at the University Way/Uhuru Highway roundabout when the gunmen forced their way in and took control of the car.

Nairobi Area police boss Benson Kibue said Mrs Muhoho and the other occupant of the car were not harmed in the ordeal.

She lost Sh20,000, her ATM card, driving license, pair of shoes and Uchumi card while the man lost a Tecno mobile phone.

The gang dropped them on the roadside and drove off to unknown destination, police said. It was then that they were helped to Gigiri police station where they reported the matter.

A witness said she looked traumatised after she was dumped on the road.

Police said they are yet to know the motive of the incident but a hunt on the gunmen is ongoing. A team of police officers has been set up to hunt down on the gang.
