Budalangi MP Ababu Namwamba has dismissed Deputy Prime Minister Musalia Mudavadi’s efforts to unite the Luhya community through his presidential bid.

Namwamba said the United Democratic Forum (UDF) presidential hopeful will not succeed in bringing the community together, saying his intentions are not genuine.

?“Musalia should tell us why he is only interested in the unity of the Luhya community now yet he never did so during his 20 years as a Cabinet minister and a vice-president,” said Namwamba.

Since defecting from ODM, Musalia has been under pressure to rally Western Kenya behind him in order to boost his chances of winning the presidency.

Other presidential aspirants from Western Region include ministers Eugene Wamalwa (Justice), Moses Wetangula (Trade), assistant minister Bifwoli Wakoli and Lugari MP Cyrus Jirongo.

Namwamba said the General Election will be crucial in determining the future leadership of the country and urged voters to be more careful when choosing their fourth president.
