Governor Wycliffe Oparanya will relinquish his position as the chairman of the Lake Region Economic Bloc (LREB) to give more attention to county development.

Speaking at the county headquarters on Tuesday, Mr Oparanya said he had been delegating most of his duties to his deputy as he spent much of his time in Nairobi chairing meetings.

He said stepping aside as LREB chairman would help him spend more time on county matters. LREB was launched in 2015, bringing together Kakamega, Bomet, Bungoma, Busia, Homa Bay, Kericho, Kisii, Kisumu, Migori, Nandi, Nyamira, Siaya, Trans-Nzoia and Vihiga counties.
