Benjamin Wanjala was ready to sell his kidney to raise his school fees.

After The Standard published a story of Benjamin Wanjala who offered to sell his kidney to raise fees, well wishers have been attracted, many of whom have contributed while others pledged to see him through secondary school.

A social media group, Tusomeshe Watoto Kakamega County, which helps needy and bright cases was particularly moved.

Elon Wameyo, a member of the group, based in the US initiated fund collection to enable Wanjala realise his dream of becoming a surgeon.

Challenge to leaders

“I was touched and I initiated the fund by raising Sh44,000 and colleagues, friends and family members have also helped raise the fees and the boy has left for school. It is a challenge to leaders as to what they are doing to ensure needy bright children achieve their dreams,” Wameyo said.
