Mama Sarah Obama to preside over Kogelo Marathon

Mama Sarah Obama has organised a marathon in Kogelo Village of Siaya County this weekend whose proceeds will go towards supporting orphans.

The marathon which will be run in the village which has risen to fame because of its association with the US President Barack Obama whose father hailed from the village.

In partnership with Safe Guard of Orphans and Widows (SOWO) Mama Sarah Obama foundation has organised the 15km marathon race to take place on Saturday October 19. The Marathon coordinator Peter Oduor said Mama Sarah is set to participate in the race and has appealed to well-wishers to support the worthy cause.

The NGO aims to help create awareness on food security, healthcare and shelter in the community.

Nairobi governor Dr Evans Kidero and Alego-Usonga MP Omondi Mulwan will be among the participants at the marathon.

The registration for the marathon is ongoing at Bondo University, Siaya Institute and Siaya County offices.
