Cotton farming in Kisumu

Until several months ago, the ahero irrigation scheme was synonymous with rice.  But farmers now are trying their hand at a whole new crop , cotton. While this is no stranger to the nyanza region, the collapse of the cotton industry in the 90’s discouraged many farmers from growing it. As ktn’s esther akelo reports, the cotton development authority is slowly trying to get farmers to grow the crop, seducing small scale farmers with lucrative prices, in a bid to revive the industry.
