Fear strikes Nairobi CBD after video of woman being raped by street boy surfaces online

A video of a street urchin appearing to be raping a woman in Nairobi’s River Road has surfaced on social media, sparking fear in the hearts of the Capitals’ residents.

In the undated two-and-a-half minute clip seen by Ureport, the woman is seen screaming for help as a crowd watched the street boy attack her.

“Help I’m being raped,” screamed the woman.

The helpless lady is then seen pleading with the person recording to stop for fear of being killed.

“Don’t kill me please and warn that person to stop recording. He might cause me to be killed,” she cried.

Kenyans on social media condemned the act and sympathized with the woman, urging the police to take action.

The Nairobi Director of Criminal Investigations Nicholas Kamwende while speaking on Tuesday, April 24, asked the victim to come out and record a statement to help police arrest the men behind the ordeal.

“What happened to the woman was wrong and we are urging her, wherever she is, to come to my office and record a statement so that she can help us in getting the men behind it,” said Kamwende.

Kamwende also said that a team of detectives has been deployed to pursue the matter.
