Why we support Raila’s swearing-in- Mutahi Ngunyi

Controversial political analyst Mutahi Ngunyi on Saturday, January 20 said that they (his students from the Fort Hall school of Government) support the swearing-in of National Super Alliance (NASA) Coalition leader Raila Odinga.

The opposition leader is scheduled to take the oath on January 30 after postponing the event twice, first on November 28 and December 12 last year.

One of Mutahi’s students said that the only way Raila will quench his thirst for freedom is by swearing himself in. Another student added that Raila’s wife Ida should also take oath as the People’s first lady.

“Raila should swear himself in. This is the only way to read what is in his heart. And in his heart, the oathing ceremony is the first step towards secession. The people’s republic of Kenya is being constructed in slow motion in front of our own eyes,” she said.

Another student said that the only way to stop Raila is to swear him in. According to him, the swearing-in ceremony is irreversible and once done cannot be undone. “The swearing-in is a path of no return, it is a gamble you cannot predict. Once you do it, you cannot reverse, its finality is fatal”, he explained.

To him, Raila’s swearing-in will give the opposition leader some closure. By taking the oath, Raila will allow Kenyans to see what action President Uhuru will take. The student said that the move will play Raila right into Uhuru’s hands.

Mutahi concluded the debate by saying that Raila, behaving like a jilted lover is throwing himself at Uhuru, demanding for dialogue while the President isn’t interested.

According to Mutahi, Raila should stop threatening the government with the swearing-in and just do it so that the government can handle him.

“Because there will be no dialogue, Raila should just do what he does when he gets annoyed, if it’s swearing himself in, he should it. In fact, he should do it tomorrow. He should stop the threat of swearing himself in, we are not buying it”, he said.
