Babu Owino’s remarks on Sonko causes a stir online

Embakasi East Member of Parliament (MP) Babu Owino caused a stir on social media on Tuesday 16 January after asking Nairobians to give the Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko time to deliver, citing that leaders are chosen by God.

“Leaders are chosen by God, Nairobians should give Sonko time to deliver,” Babu Owino posted on his Facebook page.

This comes days after the Nairobi Deputy Governor Polycarp Igathe took the nation by storm on Friday 12 January when handed over his resignation letter.

“I write to resign my seat as the elected Deputy Governor of Nairobi City County effective 1pm, Wednesday, 31st January 2018. Serving Kenyans, in Nairobi under your leadership, has been a high honor and distinct privilege. I am grateful to Nairobians and yourself for giving me the opportunity to serve. Thank you and please accept my highest personal regards,” wrote Igathe in a letter addressed to the Nairobi Governor.

Babu Owino’s remarks on Sonko caught the attention of a lot of Kenyans given his history with the Nairobi Governor.

In late November last year, the MP threatened to mobilize his constituents living around Jacaranda Grounds in re-dumping human waste at City Hall. This is after news emerged that human waste was dumped at Jacaranda Grounds a day before the scheduled NASA memorial service.

“Mike Sonko should come and collect the 15 lorries of feces which was dumped on Jacaranda grounds using Nairobi County Trucks yesterday ASAP failure to which I will lead the affected Embakasi East constituents living around Jacaranda grounds in re-dumping the feces at City Hall,” Babu Owino posted on his twitter handle.
