Health CS
Mutahi Kagwe on Tuesday morning narrated how the measures put to curb the
spread of COVID-19 affected his family.
Speaking
during an interview with Citizen TV, CS Kagwe revealed that his son, Kahush,
was placed under self-quarantine and only talked through the door.
Kagwe says
after his return from abroad, he put himself under self-quarantine since
mandatory quarantine had not yet been imposed.
"My
son was in self-quarantine in my house, we were talking through the door. My
niece was actually in quarantine at a hotel because she came back after the
mandatory quarantine order was imposed," said Kagwe.
Speaking
about his niece being on quarantine, the CS recalled that someone asked why
other people were forced into mandatory quarantine during one of the daily
pressers while others were not.
"Of course I knew it's my niece they were talking about. And the irony is that she was in quarantine and stayed there for 21 days," clarified Kagwe.
When asked
about the hardest decision he had to make during this period, the health CS
said it was not easy to ask President Uhuru to implement the cessation of
movement and curfew.
CS Kagwe
also revealed that his mother was also affected by the cessation of movement
and even blamed him for being stuck in Nairobi.
"When
you go and tell the president you recommend to cease movement for all the
Nairobians, and they must go home by 7 pm, those are not easy decisions at all.
"You
know even my own mother has been affected by this, she has been in Nairobi
since the ban, and she normally tells me that I'm the one who made her not be
able to move," said Kagwe.
