According to the police, Kawaka and nine other people caused attempted to stop the law enforces from doing their job at Kiwanja Ndege in Laikipia North on Sunday.

The Laikipia County Commander says Kawaka used a Maasai sword and cut the arm of an officer enforcing the arrest.

Police have denied allegations brought forth by Lamu Senator Anwar Loitiptip that his father was shot on the leg for not wearing a mask.

Speaking to K24, Laikipia County Commander, Maxwell Nyaema stated that Loitiptip’s father, David Kawaka was shot after he attempted to stop police officers from arresting a suspect.

According to the police, Kawaka and nine other people caused attempted to stop the law enforces from doing their job at Kiwanja Ndege in Laikipia North on Sunday.

The Laikipia County Commander says Kawaka used a Maasai sword and cut the arm of an officer enforcing the arrest.

It was during the melee that one officer shot in the air and another shot Kawaka on the leg to contain to ongoing situation and restrain him (Kawaka) from attacking another officer.

The two were both taken to the Dol dol Hospital in Laikipia for treatment. Kwaka was later transferred to Cottage Hospital in Nanyuki where he is reportedly responding well to medication.

The officer is currently admitted at the Nanyuki Level 5 Hospital.

On Monday, the Lamu Senator urged police to fasten the investigations into his father’s shooting, adding that he was shot for not wearing a mask.

He also urged the police to arrested the cop who shot his father.
