Four suspected gangsters shot dead by police along Kangundo Road

A gang of four was gunned down on Wednesday, May 13, during a shootout with the police in Komarok along Kangundo Road.

According to the DCI, police officers had tailed the suspects to Total Petrol station in Komarok and ordered them to surrender.

“Acting on intelligence, the team which has been pursuing an armed criminal gang operating in Nairobi and its environs intercepted a Toyota Sienta Reg. No KCH 366F along Kangundo Road occupied by four members of the gang,” said the DCI.


However, instead of surrendering, the assailants opened fire, forcing the police officers to shoot them.                                                                                                                                                         

During the shootout, one officer was injured and taken to Mama Lucy Hospital for treatment while another bullet hit a civilian’s car.

“Defying orders to surrender the suspects opened fire hitting one detective (a section commander) and another bullet hitting a civilian's vehicle an action that prompted the officers to respond-fatally injuring the four suspects, “added the DCI.


Police also recovered two pistols, a Tokalev and Mini Ceska and thirteen rounds of ammunition from the suspected thugs.

Buruburu OCPD Adamson Bungei also confirmed the incident adding that they have launched investigations into the matter.
