The 8.30pm incident was reported by a bodyguard, Stephen Orad, who is attached to the chairman of the electoral commission Wafula Chebukati.

According to the police report, the suspect was arrested after the neighbours identified her as the deceased’ girlfriend.

A 33-year-old man was allegedly stabbed to death by his girlfriend on Sunday night, May 10, in Umoja estate, Nairobi.

Edward Okello, an engineer at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) was stabbed on the chest with a kitchen knife during a disagreement with the girlfriend.

The 8.30pm incident was reported by a bodyguard, Stephen Orad, who is attached to the chairman of the electoral commission Wafula Chebukati.

According to the police report, the suspect was arrested after the neighbours identified her as the deceased’ girlfriend.

“The suspect of the murder who is the girlfriend… was identified by the neighbours and arrested immediately. The team proceeded to the residence at Umoja 2, Zone 8, Plot No. 5961 ground floor and found a pool of blood on the sitting room and a kitchen knife was recovered, “read part of the report.


In a video that went viral on social media, the suspect says she could not establish what happened adding that she was defending herself.

“I don’t know what happened…he started beating me. A woman will take anything to defend themselves. I took a cup and hit him with it… All I know he was hitting me.

“We were just fighting… you are putting words in my mouth. I don’t know what happened,” said the suspect in the video.

The victim died on arrival at Mama Lucy Kibaki hospital. His body was taken to the Mama Lucy Hospital mortuary.
