SUMMARY

He warned that if the allegations are confirmed, then Kenyans who have interacted with those MPs should get tested.

“Dear CS Mutahi Kagwe, if its true 17 MPs have tested positive for Coronavirus, it is only fair you release the names so that Kenyans who have interacted with them can rush for testing.

Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria on Wednesday asked Health CS Mutahi Kagwe to name the legislators who have tested positive for Coronavirus.

This is after The Star published a story alleging that 17 MPs had tested positive.

Kuria asked Kagwe to release the names if the story is true or arrest the owners of the publication if the story is false.

“An MP by the nature of their jobs can infect up to 3.000 people so we are looking at 50,000 infections arising from MPs,” he said.

Adding: “If not true, arrest the owners of The Star and People Daily as you promised few days ago.”

Last week, Kagwe warned those spreading fake information regarding COVID-19 that they risk being arrested.

This is after the government announced the recoveries of Brenda Ivy and Brian Orinda.

On social media, some alleged that it was a PR stunt by the government to reduce tension, something the CS did not take politely.

He said that the government would use two young individuals as a stunt to please the public and called on relevant authorities to arrest all those who were abusing social media.
