A South African man working at a hotel in Masai Mara Game Reserve has been put under forced quarantine.

His father who had visited  him in Kenya tested positive for covid-19.

The man is said to have travelled to a hotel facility in Masai Mara conservancy accompanied by four others in the same car after meeting his father at a hospital  in Nairobi where he is admitted.

According to an update from the Sub Ministry Of Health in Transmara West Sub County, the man has been quarantined with the four who travelled with him.

The Narok covid-19 response team led by county commissioner Samuel Kimiti and County Health Executive Morgan Ole Siloma confirmed the case, saying the father to the South African is a confirmed case of coronavirus and he is admitted at the Aga Khan Hospital.

But reports indicate that before he travelled to Mara he was living with the father in Nairobi.

"This man's father jetted into the country one week ago. He travelled to Mara and stayed with his son. Since he is a suspected coronavirus case we have ordered him to immediately quarantine together with those who were in his company as we trace for other possible contact persons," said Kimiti.

On his part, Siloma said the subcounty team will give more comprehensive update on the Serena case.

Already the county emergency response team has started tracing all people who came into contact with the suspect.

"We received the report from our public health officials. The suspect has been put into isolation and he is undergoing tests," Siloma added.
