Eliud Kipchoge describes Kenya’s Olympics kit as ‘extremely wonderful’

Olympic marathon champion Eliud Kipchoge has described Kenya’s kit for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics as ‘extremely wonderful.’

Kipchoge, who recently became the first man to run 42km in under two hours said the kit has all the colours of the national flag and is something the youth can identify with.

He also lauded the quality of the fabric and the fact that NIKE will make it available in selected retail shops.

“The material used is special and unique since it absorbs and drains moisture fast hence tailored for the hot conditions expected in Tokyo during the Games.

“I think it will turn tables as far as sports is concerned. I trust I will see Kenyans draped in the Kenyan colours in all streets of our towns,” said Kipchoge.

Adding: “It’s a good thing that Nike has promised to make this awesome clothes available on retail.”

On Thursday, Kenyans online bashed the quality of the kit saying it is poorly designed and was a step back from kits used in previous Olympics.

The National Olympic Committee of Kenya had shared photos of the latest kit but Kenyans were far from impressed, some even saying the design would affect the performance of the athletes.

The kit, which includes vests, elbow bands, tracksuits and hoodies, was heavily criticized despite the fact that it has colours of the national flag.

Some called for a better and brighter kit saying it looked too ‘busy’.
