KENHA advises motorists using Kaplong-Kisii road to use alternative routes

The Kenya National Highways Authority (KENHA) on Thursday advised motorists using the Kaplong-Kisii road to use alternative routes after River Kipsonoi burst its banks.

In a statement seen by Ureport, KENHA stated that a section of the road had been rendered impasable owing to the flooded river.

Motorists were asked to use Sotik-Roret road and connect to Kisii through Ikonge.

“Our supervision team and the contractor are on high alert and any eventualities will be reported as soon as they occur.

“We are yet to assess the structural integrity of the bridge, which will be undertaken immediately the water levels subside.

“Motorists can use Sotik - Roret road and connect to Kisii through Ikonge,” read the statement.

Elsewhere, President Uhuru Kenyatta will today launch the construction of the Naivasha-Njambini (C489/C490) Road.

The road which is approximately 32km is located in Nyandarua and Nakuru Counties.

It is expected to facilitate movement of passengers and freight thereby enhancing
access to national and regional markets of the agricultural and industrial products in the entire Central and Rift Valley Regions.

It will also reduce general travel time between Nakuru and Nyandarua Counties.
