Chief arrested for defiling student on her way to church

Police in Rarieda sub-county have arrested an assistant chief for allegedly defiling a form two student.

The suspect, Oscar Ongoro was arrested at his office in Kokwiri sub-location on Tuesday afternoon.

Confirming the incident to The Standard, the area police boss Thomas Ototo said the administrator was being held at Aram police station and will be arraigned in court on Wednesday to face charges against defilement.

"The administrator was accused of defiling the minor on January 11. The victim was later taken to Madiany sub county hospital where she was examined and a P3 form filled," he said.

He said that the girl was allegedly waylaid by the administrator while on her way to church on that fateful day.

"She was allegedly locked up by the chief in a lodging at Nyakongo trading center where she was reportedly defiled before being released the following day at dawn," added the police boss.

The move came a day after the parents of the girl faulted the police of delaying to arrest the assistant chief over the alleged offense.
