Doctor faints after he is busted preparing a 14-year-old girl for abortion

A middle-aged man, Gideon Rerimoi Kosgei, on Thursday, October 10 fainted after he was busted attempting to perform an abortion on a 14-year-old in Kabartonjo, Baringo County.

According to Francis Chelobei, Baringo County health coordinator, the drugs that were recovered from his clinic were expired.

The suspect's patient watched as the police waited for the man to regain consciousness before they were both arrested.

“We also confiscated drugs which should only be administered by government health facilities,” said Chelobei.

“The suspect did not have even one valid operating license. We also learnt that, in his clinic, he was extracting patients’ teeth without having any qualification,” said the health coordinator.

This arrest was made possible by residents who were fed up with the suspect's activities who alerted the police.

Baringo North OCPD, Paul Mwangangi, said that complains had been raised earlier by teachers in the area who claimed that pregnant students sought Kosgei’s abortion services.

“We also discovered that the suspect sold alcohol in the clinic,” said Mwangangi.

The suspect will be arraigned in court on Friday, October 11, 2019.
