Man rapes, chops off legs of Vera Beauty College girl

21-year-old Emmah Wanyota, an Eldoret Vera beauty college student, was on Tuesday brutally murdered at her home at Moi's Bridge, Uasin Gishu County.

The suspect, identified as Mustafa, allegedly hit her with a blunt object on her head then raped her before chopping off her legs.

This comes after the deceased rejected the suspect's sexual advances hence sparking his rage.

According to Wanyota’s mother, Beatrice Luseno, she left her daughter in the house and on returning found her living room in shreds covered in blood.

“When I got back home, I did not find my daughter in the house. I, however, found my living room in a total mess; blood splattered all over,” Luseno disclosed.

The late Emmah was only left with a month to complete her college education.

Mustafa was however arrested in possession of the lady’s laptop and phone and is currently detained at Moi’s Bridge Police Station.

Bloodthirsty parents, however, protested the move by police saying that the man should be handed over to them.

The body was transferred to Kitale County Referral Hospital in Trans Nzoia County.

According to Emmah’s sister, Sheila Wanyotta, the man, who is a well-known carpenter in Moi’s bridge area, was Emmah’s ex-boyfriend.

She said that Mustafa was familiar to the family since he made furniture for both her mother and brother.

"After parting ways with my sister in August, he has been threatening her and also all the male contacts in her phonebook," she added.

According to a village elder, the suspect has a history of committing such offenses and getting away scot-free.

"This suspect is a notorious criminal. Back in 2014, he killed a lady in Mombasa and he went scot-free. In 2017 again, at Kapkoi here in Moi's Bridge, he killed another lady and he was released this year in March on bond," said Edward Ayub Bondeni, a village elder.

The man is said to be out on bond after he was arrested and charged with murder in Mombasa last year.
