Police rescue suspect from angry mob

Police have arrested a sodomy suspect in Murang’a hours after he resurfaced from hiding.

The suspect was apprehended at Kagaa village near Kenol market where police had to fire into the air to save him from an angry mob.

He was apprehended on Sunday night over alleged claims of sodomising men after lacing their drinks with an unknown chemical at a liquor joint.

He was rescued from the hands of the mob and booked at Makuyu Police Station.

A victim claimed he was asked by a friend he was sharing a table, to assist him push his motorcycle. Hours later, he regained consciousness and learnt that he was 'sexually assaulted'.

“I alerted the residents what happened to me before a manhunt was launched,” said the victim who has since been treated.

The residents claim the suspect has been known to deceive his victims to assist him push his motorcycle before they are overpowered and forced into his room.

“The suspect has a wife and such behaviour will not be entertained in Murang’a. It by sheer luck the police came before he accomplished his mission,” said a resident.

Murang’a South OCPD John Onditi said the matter was being pursued to establish what transpired following contradicting information.

“Some claim the suspect was caught stealing, others allege sodomy. We are probing the two versions of the story,” said Onditi.
