Headteacher in court for defiling four pupils

A deputy head teacher has been accused of defiling four school girls, two of whom are pregnant.

Dan Mathews Odhiambo appeared, a teacher at a school in Nyando, appeared before Ahero Senior Principal Magistrate Patrick Olengo on Tuesday. He was, however, not allowed to take plea after police requested for more time to conclude investigations.

About the girls

Investigating Officer Wycliffe Opanga said three of the girls were Odhiambo's pupils at Arombo Primary School, while the fourth was attending the nearby Arombo Mixed Secondary School.

Mr Opanga had sought 10 days to enable him find more details on the cases, but the magistrate granted him five.

Odhiambo will remain in police custody.

Olengo said the suspect must remain in cells for his own safety, because villagers were baying for his blood.

FACTS

In 2016 the suspect was transferred Odienya primary school in Rangwe Homabay to Arombo in Kisumu with allegations of defilement.

He is being accused of defiling two girls and impregnating two others in a span of one year.

The defilement had been reported at the Ahero Police station as OB 34/01/07/2019
