KRA extends working hours to help you file your returns

The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) on Thursday announced that it had extended working hours to ensure all Kenyans complete payments and file returns before the June 30, 2019, deadline.

Through a statement seen by Ureport, KRA announced that service centres would remain open between 7am to 9pm on Friday and 9am to midnight over the weekend.

Contact centres will also be open between 6am and 12 midnight on Friday and 9am to midnight over the weekend.

“The offices comprises all Customs offices including Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) and iTax Service Centers countrywide to facilitate taxpayers to pay and file their 2018 and other prior annual tax returns,” read the statement by Deputy Commissioner, Marketing and Communication Grace Wandera.

“Customs offices supporting port operations are open 24 hours to facilitate customs services whereas the iTax Service Centers will operate from 7:00AM-9:00 PM. The Contact Centre shall be operational from 6:00AM-12:00 Midnight.”

Further KRA instructed all taxpayers to ensure they file their returns to avoid penalties.

“All taxpayers are therefore encouraged to utilize all these platforms to ensure that they remain compliant and avoid penalties for late or failure to submit a tax return.

“This will enable them to acquire Tax Compliance Certificate (TCC), which is a critical document in accessing services,” read the statement.
