I convened La Mada Hotel meetings — Moses Kuria

Gatundu South Member of Parliament Moses Kuria has revealed that he was responsible for the La Mada Hotel meetings whose agenda has now raised eyebrows.

Speaking during an interview on NTV, Kuria stated that he organized the meetings but they were solely for development purposes.

He further stated that leaders have a right to meet anytime they want and he is ready to record a statement with police regarding the matter.

"I constituted the whole set of meetings and I am ready by the way. I can record my statement at any given time with the Directorate of Criminal Investigations.

"I prefer to remain completely neutral in the entire matter, However, all I'm saying is that you should not de-legitimize people meeting about development,” he said.

On Monday, Trade CS Peter Munya confirmed that some leaders had been meeting at La Mada Hotel but termed talk of assassinating DP William Ruto as irresponsible and aimed at tarnishing their image.

“Indeed we had a meeting at La Mada and we will continue having meetings because the Constitution allows freedom of association and expression.

“People are allowed to meet as long as they are not meeting to plan any criminal activity,” said Munya.

Elsewhere, a section of leaders from Mt Kenya rubbished the alleged plot to eliminate the DP and urged him (Ruto) to record a statement with the DCI.

“If surely he believes that something was being planned, why can’t he just do the statement and then we follow up from there?

“We’re not here to defend evil; if there is evil let it be known to be evil, but let’s not peddle lies in the name of politics,” said Kiambu Woman Representative Gathoni Wamuchomba.

Nyeri Town MP Ngunjiri Wambugu, on his part, said the allegations were meant to intimidate Cabinet Secretaries from carrying out their mandate, adding that it is an attempt to incite the country against the Mt Kenya region.

“We see this as a badly disguised attempt to incite the rest of the country against our region, against our leaders, and against the President,” he stated.
