Gang raids hotel, steals 26 TV sets and alcohol

Police say the incident happened on Tuesday night when the gang first tied guards at the Maple Inn before embarking on their mission.

They broke into 25 rooms and stole 26 television sets of different makes valued at Sh315,000. They also confiscated CCTV cameras some of which they damaged.

The guards told police the suspects later broke into the main bar counter and stole two television sets valued at Sh80,000, assorted alcoholic drinks and a laptop valued at Sh30,000.

No arrest has been made but police suspect the gang had prior information of the hotel settings before they staged the attack.

Meanwhile, three suspected thugs were shot dead in Buruburu area in a botched robbery incident. Police say the men were part of a gang that had been terrorizing locals when police on patrol were alerted. Crude weapons were recovered from them.

According to police, the suspects had been linked to a series of robbery incidents in the area. The bodies of the men were moved to the mortuary. Police say they have enhanced operations to tame incidents of insecurity.

And a guard was Tuesday shot and wounded in a robbery on a clothes shop near Lonroh House in the Central Business District, Nairobi.
