He arrived at his home in Maili Tisa on Friday night and knocked on the door but his wife Esther Ngatha refused to open.

Police in Namanga, Kajiado County have arrested a middle-aged man on suspicion of killing his wife and lover.

Witnesses said Samuel Gitonga arrived at his home in Maili Tisa on Friday night and knocked on the door but his wife Esther Ngatha refused to open. They claimed she was in bed with her lover, Kasimbi Mutuku.

Gitonga, who had reportedly been suspecting the two have been having an affair, forced his way into the house by breaking into a wall and, in a fit of rage, is said to have hacked his wife and lover to death with a panga.

Area Assistant Chief Loise Nkoriki said neighbours called him when they heard commotion coming from the house and when he arrived at the scene he found Ngatha’s body under the bed with multiple cuts.

“I was alerted by neighbours that there was fighting and commotion going on and when I arrived at the scene and entered the house, I saw two bodies.

The wife’s body was under the bed with cuts on the head and her (alleged) lover’s body was thrown outside with multiple cuts in the head and neck,” said the Chief.

Kajiado Central Sub-County Commander police Issa Mohamoud confirmed the incident and warned residents against taking the law into their own hands.

The bodies of the victims have been moved to Kajiado County Referral Hospital with the accused expected to be arraigned at the Kajiado Law courts today.
