‘Takataka’ singer releases new video days after Ezekiel Mutua trashed song

‘Takataka’ singer Alvindo has released a new video of his song just days after Kenya Film and Classification Board (KFCB) CEO Ezekiel Mutua banned the song from all free-to-air radio and TV stations in Kenya.

The video already has over 150,000 views so far on YouTube and from the comments, a section of Kenyans is impressed by the creativity and work put in the video.

A fortnight ago, Mutua had termed the song ‘degrading’ adding that it advocates for violence towards women.

He further warned DJs against playing the song in night clubs and revealed that he was in the process of instituting takedown procedures of the song from all online platforms.

“Moving forward, the song should not be performed live or broadcast anywhere within the Republic of Kenya. No DJ should play the song either on broadcast station or in entertainment joints,” read the statement in part.

KFCB added, “The song is a primitive piece of art that should not be celebrated in any way by the society. This song and such other obscene content should be rejected by members of a self-respecting society.”

The board further summoned the musician to present himself at their office within 14 days, failure to which legal proceedings shall be instituted against him.
