Picking out an engagement ring for your partner is no easy feat.
This is the most important piece of jewellery they will ever wear and as such it's kind of crucial they like it as it's going on their finger every day until death do you part.
With all this in mind, it should come as no surprise that people spend a lot of time trying to find the right ring.
One man clearly thought he'd done a good job - but his girlfriend had other ideas.
A woman took to Facebook to slam her partner for his choice of engagement ring - which she had found hidden in his bedside table.
In a ring shaming group, she shared a snap of the ring and wrote: "Ewwwww. Self shame Friday here I come.
"Found this in the BF's nightstand.
"Not a fan.
"Please roast and then tell me how to tactfully say no you need to go get something different."
A screengrab of the post has since been shared on Reddit, where users have been sharing their disgust at the woman's comments.
One person replied: "What a b****."
Another said: "This is the saddest thing I've seen on this sub. It's one thing when it's a total stranger, but when someone that's supposed to love you unconditionally acts like a grifter it's just plain sad."
A third added: "Honestly her saying no would be the best thing to happen to the person who's planning to propose."
Someone else suggested a plot twist - that the ring wasn't even for her.
While a different user thought that it might have belonged to his mum or grandmother and he'd wanted to pass it down to his future wife.
