Monica Kimani’s mum sends message to Jowie

Miriam Kimani, mother of the late Monica Kimani who was brutally killed last week, on Thursday sent a message to the main suspect in the case, Joseph Irungu aka Jowie.

After the requiem mass held at Happy Valley in Thika on September 27, 2018, Millicent said: “Ukikutana na Joe, (Jowi) mwambie alinikosea sana…alinikosea sana.” (When you meet Joe tell him he has hurt me so much).

Monica’s body was found in her apartment in Nairobi’s Kilimani area last week and her throat was slit.

Detectives have been working on the case to bring the killers to book and Jowie’s name has featured prominently.

On Friday, it emerged that journalist Jacque Maribe – Jowie’s girlfriend- revealed that she once saw her fiancé with a gun in her house but had not seen it again after warning him.

She also reiterated that she had never met the deceased before and only came to know of her existence when she read the news of her brutal killing.

Initial investigations revealed that Jowie was seen driving a Toyota Allion registered in Maribe’s name on the day of the murder but the journalist stated that her fiancé often used her car to pick her and drop her at work.

It also emerged that when police went to pick Irungu from their house in Royal Park Estate, he was in the company of Maribe.

The journalist told police that on September 21, 2018, Irungu arrived at her house and said he had been shot and injured.

She then drove him to different hospitals seeking medical attention.

According to Monica’s neighbours in Kilimani, Joe was seen at her house on the night of her demise and he had a white kanzu.

Police are questioning the suspect’s narrative that he was shot outside his house in Lang’ata because security guards in the area stated that they did not hear any gunshots on the said day.
