Women should defend, protect cheating husbands

In the mid-1990s, an intern was employed in White House. Besides her assigned her roles, President Bill Clinton assigned gave extra duties of blowing him in office.

The stinky scandal raised a raucous and the president narrowly survived impeachment. All eyes were on Hillary Diane Rodham, the 47-year-old First Lady of America. Hillary was trailblazing feminist with several firsts.

So, the natural expectations of many women was for her to divorce the unfaithful, randy Bill. But somehow, Hillary forgave Bill and retained the name of her husband (whether to milk its political capital is neither here nor there). She would later become the New York senator, a year after her husband left White House. She would have won the senate seat even as a divorcee.

But if ever there was a name with a huge political capital in America or anywhere in the world, then it is Clinton.

Locally, big men have been caught with their pants down. A year ago, a deputy governor was ensnared in an extortion ring. When the video of the naked county boss with a woman who was not his wife surfaced, all eyes shifted to his spouse. The man apologised and his wife came to his defence.

So, it was no surprise that Migori Governor Okoth Obado’s wife had to come out to and defend her man.

It is understood that if a man is rich and powerful, most women will stick around, regardless of the man’s sin.

It is only young, middle-class women earning some NGO-salary who have little patience with their cheating boyfriends. It is such women who divorce their men at the drop of a hat because of a text from a slay queen who their husband has been flirting with. Poor and rich women have no luxury of divorce. When you are poor or rich, you always have a big picture in mind. Always.

But life in the middle is full of trouble. Why do women forgive cheating husbands? Material motivations top the list. You are not going to abandon a mansion just because the husband tripped. Bolder women often descend on the slay queen and beat the daylights out of her. And sometimes it is worth it.

It is worth fighting over a man. It is worth protecting him and your wealth from leeches. Wise wives know their husbands are foolish. Rich powerful men especially think with their small heads than the bigger one. Without the moderating effect of their wives, they will easily ruin themselves. There is a reason we like our politicians married and with families. They lead a reckless life and can die any time, the better to leave their clan behind.

But beyond material motivations, these women put the best interests of their children first. Monied men will always have more women than broke men. Most rich men are even polygamous, and I know academic professors who are second wives of men who did not step in a class beyond Form Two, yet they are subservient, because the men are filthy rich.

Women are super pragmatists. It is easier for a woman to marry a rich drug lord, than a high school mathematics teacher. Education is overrated. With my masters degree from a great school, there are women I can’t access. But my buddy Fred, who dropped out of school in Class Eight, and is a world-class con in Nairobi, has slept with women from all backgrounds.

He’s actually practically married to three women. All the women are graduates, some holding good jobs, but not one of them wants to walk out. Why? Because, even with his limited education, he is an alpha male. He has swindled his way to wealth. He is the faceless guy you see at stupid press conferences that politicians like calling.

The lesson here for men is that, if you are broke, you can be divorced, and your woman may not show up to defend you if you screw up. But if you are rich, you will get away with so much!

But one more thing for men: avoid cheating or dealing with dangerous women who can ruin your reputation unnecessarily. It is shady exposing our loving wives to some of these scandals.
