A 13-year-old girl has been left traumatised after discovering her father's decapitated head - after her mum murdered him in their marital bedroom.
Harriet Nassali, 38, is alleged to have beheaded Siraje Kavuma, 53, with a machete after she had found a new man and wanted their relationship to "blossom".
She fled from the gruesome scene after digging a 3ft hole in the garden to bury her headless husband's corpse.
Her daughter, horrified from what she had witnessed, alerted the neighbours on the outskirt of Uganda capital Kampala.
This is reportedly not the first time Mrs Nassali has tried to kill her husband, as she had previously made alleged attempts to poison him.
The mum-of-four, 38 was later arrested after her suspected lover led cops to her hideout.
The pair admitted to police that they had plotted to get rid of Siraje.
The pair had been fighting over a disagreement on money to be used to by a plot of land.
Police said: “Close family friends revealed the bitter history of how the deceased had given his wife Nassali 27 million Ugandan Shillings (£5,700).
One of his children had told officers about a "male friend" who had got close to their mum just days before their dad was murdered in the village of Lwesuubo.
A police spokesman said: “It’s alleged that Harriet Nassali hacked her husband to death with a machete “She cut his head, killing him instantly.
“Her terrified 13-year-old child decided to alert the neighbours, narrated what had transpired thus immediately calling for police intervention.”
Another daughter, 17, said her parents had been unhappy in their marriage for a while, revealing to police that she discovered that her mum had tried to poison their dad previously.
“They had misunderstandings for a while and mother made several attempts to poison father,” she told local media.
Her mum told NBS TV she acted out of revenge and Siraje “met his due.”
Nassali and her alleged lover, Alex Kamusangi, are being held at Mattuga Police Station as the investigation continues.
Siraje’s body was taken to Mulago Mortuary for a postmortem.
