Raila calls off boycott against Bidco, Safaricom

National Super Alliance (NASA) leader Raila Odinga has called off the boycott against Safaricom, Bidco, Haco and Brookside products.

Raila made the remarks during his speech at Uhuru Park on Tuesday 1 April on the ongoing Labor Day celebrations.

“Today, I announce the end of the boycott of products from Safaricom, Bidco, Brookside and Haco. Our supporters are now free to use products from these companies we’d asked them to boycott last year,” said Raila.

On November 2018 the NASA leaders asked their supporters to boycott products from the mentioned companies in a bid to demonstrate against President Uhuru Kenyatta’s win during the August 8 elections.

Safaricom dealers Association however condemned NASA’s call for boycott saying that one million Kenyans will be left jobless.

"We appeal to all Kenyans to resist such calls to kill our economy. Boycotting Safaricom means no communication networks and those who will lose jobs are our brothers and sisters with families to feed and children to educate," said the Association’s chairperson Esther Muchemi.
