- Deputy President William Ruto has taken his political move to a different level since the handshake between President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga
- The handshake has given Ruto the opportunity to move around the country launching development projects
After the handshake between President Uhuru Kenyatta and the former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, the deputy president William Ruto has taken his political move to a different level. The enabling environment created after the handshake has given Ruto the opportunity to move around the country launching development projects and preaching the 2022 gospel.
William Ruto stands to gain from the handshake. First of all, it’s clear that Uhuru and Raila have no plans of running for the presidential seat in 2022.
Secondly, Ruto has worked well with both parties, Raila in Orange Democratic Movement and Kenyatta in Jubilee. Ruto was happy with the handshake since he had no objection to it and said that it’s the country that should come first. Who knows, maybe he’s the one who brought Raila and Uhuru on board.
The Deputy President will definitely be looking to build alliances that will see him through in becoming the next president come 2022. He seems not to be worried about the political waters in his own backyard, where Gideon Moi is also mobilizing people to support him come 2022. He has secured support in the coastal region where we had the likes of Mishi Mboko wishing him success come 2022.
