Manchester City begin quest to become 'unstoppable' - set to sign two superstars

Premier League Champions Manchester City have set their sights on raising the bar next season and will try to sign two of the world’s best players to prove this.

According to English news outlet Sky Sports, Pep Guardiola’s side look likely to bid for Paris St Germain forward Kylian Mbappe and Bayern Munich midfielder Thiago Alcantara.

Should the Citizens fail to sign one of these two or both, former Manchester United player now at Crystal Palace Wilfried Zaha will be among those considered.

Guardiola will be given around 200 million euros to spend in the summer and has already stated that he intends to make additions to his squad, capable of competing with the world’s best.

Pep will take credit for turning Alcantara into a world star, mentoring him at Barcelona before signing him after he took charge of Bayern Munich in 2013.

Thiago should also be willing to listen to offers from other clubs – having started less than 20 games for Bayern in the league this season, he will be looking for ‘game time’.

Man City’s midfield will have to face the fact that it’s aging and new additions have to be made to maintain the depth of the squad. Yaya Toure, David Silva and Fernandinho are all in their 30s, meaning Pep will have to inject some pace and young blood into his squad this summer

After UEFA commenced investigations of Paris St Germain’s spending situations, Man City are said to be considering Mbappe, who is on loan from AS Monaco. He will be a full PSG player after the season-long loan spell ends, but if Financial Fair Play comes into the fray, he will have to look for another club or return to Monaco.
