After a long-day stand-off on Wednesday over unpaid allowance and unaviability of essential training kits, athletics squad to the next month’s Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Australia are back to training.

The track and field athletes softened their stand after a meeting with National Olympics Committee of Kenya (Nock) President Paul Tergat.

The one-hour closed-door meeting at the team’s hotel saw Tergat promise to avail the running spikes once they receive the remaining consignment.

“We want to built trust, openness and transparency and that’s why I came personally to give the assurance that the problem will be sorted out. There was some miscommunication but everyone will get their bags.

“On the training allowance, everyone going to Gold Coast will receive their money by Friday (Today).”

The hiccup, saw the athletics team drop former World Javelin Champion Julius Yego, who is currently in South Africa for the Athletics Grand Prix Athletics Series, as their captain and replaced him with World 1500m champion Elijah Manangoi alongside world 5000m champion, Hellen Obiri.
