Kenyans reactions after woman accuses KNH doctors of rapturing her intestines

There are mixed reactions from Kenyans on social media after yet another surgery went wrong at the Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH).

Susan Nekesa, a patient at KNH, has accused KNH doctors of rapturing her intestines after she delivered twins on January 25 during a Caesarean section delivery.

“When I came to see her, her stomach was inflated and warm. She could not talk and used sign language,” said her sister Evelyn Anindo.

“It was seen that she had been wrongly operated and a small portion of her intestine, about 50 centimeters, was outside the enclosing chamber,” added Susan’s husband Robert Sitati.

The family later received more disturbing news that one of the twins had died.

Susan’s husband Sitati said that one of the nurses told him that the baby was chocked with milk.

KNH acting Chief Executive Officer Dr. Thomas Mutie, however, assured the family that they will investigate the matter and give them a comprehensive statement.

“We would also like to affirm our commitment to probe the matter with a view to establishing the facts and giving a comprehensive statement at the earliest convenience,” he said.

Why is it that every other time there's something wrong at KNH no one wants to take responsibility?

The 4th estate is always happy with negative news. There are positive news about KNH but none will written in our 4th estate. KNH does what both private & other counties hospitals has been unable to do.Let support KNH in all it does, the negative should not deter the KNH spirit.— marto (@MartoNjau) March 22, 2018

Its also a good idea considering what is happening at KNH, but the government should also consider the unemployment docs— Vinnie (@Vinnie35323078) March 22, 2018

@UKenyatta...Instead of opening roads on ngong Rd,there are bigger issues like the KNH operation MESSUPS!Delegate road opening to Kina Sonko!Lets get our priorities right;that is if you care for the people who voted for you!

KNH now referring its patients to private facilities due to break down of vital machines.

If you have been scheduled for a heart surgery at KNH, you must wait for a heart & lung machine to be borrowed from a private hospital before the procedure can be performed. #CloseKNH— The Muthoka® (@MuthokaTito) March 22, 2018

KNH is at it again. This time round they have punctured a woman's intestines during C-Section. Do we have an hospital there? No. But even with the past history of serious malfunctions of the... https://t.co/qIN3nCo3Wd

These KNH quacks took out a woman's intestines by mistake? Believe you me, these guys are getting high on the job.

I feel the pain Nekesa is going through. Is it that medical students at KNH are the ones performing these operations on their own without doctors? Something needs to be done to avoid such cases of neglegence! cc @fnoluga— Lloyd Onyango (@lloydOnyango) March 22, 2018
