Two suspects have been remanded following the killing of a 38-year-old miraa farmer.

The two - an Administration Police constable and a regular police corporal based in Igembe Central - appeared before High Court judge Anne Ong’injo yesterday and were remanded awaiting mental assessment.

The two were told the Director of Public Prosecutions intended to prefer murder charges related to the shooting of Jeremiah Kilemi Ntoitabari in Kathelwa village in Igembe Central on February 2.

The father of five was shot dead at his home. The suspects' lawyer asked the court to release his clients on reasonable bail terms or detain them at Ngundune Police Station for their own security.

But Ms Ong’injo ordered the two held at Meru GK Prison and said the officer in charge should be instructed to ensure their security.
