Letter to Governor Sonko

Dear Governor, Nairobians overwhelmingly voted for you in the August polls because they had immense expectations from your governorship. They expected you to revitalize the putrid city and salvage traders from the fraudulent county cartels who siphoned every extra coin they made. I wholeheartedly appreciate you for halting the weekly tax collection from kiosk owners and hawkers. However, the following is threatening the image of the once pristine city.

First, hawkers have thronged Nairobi's streets, hardly leaving any walking space. Secondly, open sewers and mounds of garbage have become synonymous with the city. Thirdly, the roads within the city are in a dilapidated state and require quick refurbishment.

Lastly, notorious criminal gangs have become rampant. Cases of people being robbed by armed thugs on the streets are escalating daily. This has been fuelled by high rates of unemployment among Nairobi's youths.

Your campaign manifesto is still fresh in the minds of Nairobians. The irksome and volatile electioneering period came to an end after the polls and we expect to see your efforts in solving the mess that Nairobi has become. Security is crucial for businesses to thrive.

We need police on the streets round the clock. In addition, the county government should create jobs for youths and empower them economically. Hawkers should not be banned from the city Centre, but they should be controlled to keep the streets clear.

Proper disposal of garbage and unclogging of sewage systems should be prioritized to sanitize the city and curb health hazards. I strongly believe you will put this into consideration
