DP Ruto – We are ready to debate anyone, anywhere, anytime

Deputy President William Ruto has moved to his Twitter page to defend President Uhuru Kenyatta’s snub of the presidential debate.

The debate, which took place at the Catholic University of East Africa, saw only seven of the candidates attend, with President Uhuru Kenyatta being a no-show.

The highlight of the evening was Raila Odinga, who showed up and stood on stage alone, answering all questions that came his way.

The Deputy President, who also missed the running mates debate last week, wrote on his twitter, “The debate had logistical challenges, which we raised. We are ready to debate anyone, anywhere, anytime.”

However, the tweet has sparked uproar on social media, with Kenyans criticising Jubilee’s move not to attend the debate – seeing it as failure by the government to be accountable to its citizens.

The DP and the president have been traversing the country as the vote hunt intensifies – with only 12 days left to the General Election.

NASA’s Raila Odinga, on the other hand, may have increased his chances of getting more vote after arguably tackling the debate questions well, having room for a few hilarious jokes.
