Why a Bodaboda man keeps all his money in his boots

News

A 36 year old man has resorted to keeping his money in his shoe rather than other preferably saver places like on a mobile bank account.

Timothy Otieno, a bodaboda operator has a reason to his unique way of keeping money which he claims is safer compared to others.

In a day, Timothy earns approximately Sh800 daily and spend Sh500 with his family and saves the rest in his 'shoe bank'.

In his 5 years of work as a bodaboda man, his shoe has been the caring partner and he proudly says he's comfortable with it as he insists on not changing any soon.

"I trust my shoe, furthermore my wife knows it is where I keep all the many I make from my job", says Otieno.

Well, his clients feel it's weird receiving or giving change from the rider’s boot which is always thought to be smelly given its outward look.

He has a wife and three kids in primary school and he says he pays their fee well with what he earns not forgetting other basic needs required in a family because he moves around with all the money he makes.

Timothy like other people says his shoe has a faster access than banks and phones that he avoids for ‘tiring processes’.

He adds that it's easier especially when there's an emergency, his money could be obtained much faster.

"It is hard for me to keep my money somewhere else nowadays. In my boot, I just bend and get to it quickly, "he adds.

He says nobody can realize how much money he has and therefore, it's hard for him to be robbed and laughs saying coins and notes do not share the same compartment in the boot.

When asked which foot carries the money, he says he shifts the bank from his left to the right shoe every day or several times in a day to feel more secure with the catch.
