From an officer messenger to a renowned radio presenter


 A renowned radio presenter admitted that he had no well-built body structure that could enable him to do manual jobs that is why he opted to do lighter jobs.


 
“I knew with my body size I Mjengo was not an option because I had no strength to lift stones. I had to hustle doing odd jobs,” said Mbusi.



Daniel Githinji Mwangi, popularly known as Mbusii said that having struggled to look for a job he decided to sell soup in the slum.He further went ahead to also look for theater job when it dawned on him that by selling soup he was not able to sustain him and his family.


 
According to him, he thought that whatever he was doing that was contrary to the law in the slum he could use it in the theater to earn him at least an extra shilling.


 
“ I thought within myself and decided that I wanted to make a living from acting in the theater. I used to make at least 200 or 300 bob which was a very big boost to me by then.It is there that I met Robert-Radio Ghetto presenter who approached me with an offer of doing traffic updates,” said Mbusi.


 
I did that job for six months then I was demoted to a messenger.Mbusi said that the move was so humiliating to an extent that he felt he was like a president being demoted to the position of a chief.


 
In addition, he said that he did that job for two and a half years and he was being paid three thousand shillings per month.


 
“It was hard to survive on such a meager salary owing to the fact that I had a wife and a young child to take care off. My friend Lion used to give me some few shilling like 30bob as a tip,” added Mbusi.


 
Mbusi further revealed that presenter D- silla could sneak him into the studio and allowed him to go on air in between her show. It is through this that he got the opportunity to go on air with the change of management.According to him he learned how to present by just watching



He further revealed that his father was a mortuary attendant before being promoted to a cleaner and then to a supervisor.



This serves as a life lesson for the youth who want to achieve in life and they are not ready to start from a low point. It is good for the youth to accept their status and work towards building and increasing themselves step by step until they achieve their desired heights in life.
