President Uhuru speaks about one costly mistake done by politicians

President Uhuru Kenyatta said that there is one big mistake politician do by forgetting the old people who have made tremendous contributions in the growth of Kenya’s economy.

Speaking on Saturday during the burial of Mzee William Gatuhi Murathe at his farm in Gatanga, Murang’a County, President Uhuru said in most cases politician and other people remember politicians who helped this country in their various capacities forgetting those who have made the real contribution to the growth of the economy of the country.

“We only remember politician, forgetting those who wake up very early every day and work hard in ensuring that fellow Kenyans are employed, help in the growth of Kenya’s economy and who help us end poverty,” said Uhuru.

According to him as politicians, they are supposed to make sure that they help and stand with the businessmen and women of this country at all levels because they are the foundation of the country.

President Uhuru eulogised the late Murathe as a hardworking man who played a leading role in community development even though he was not a politician.

“Murathe is an excellent example of how to give back to society because he devoted his time and resources to improve the community. He was a pioneer businessman and succeeded through hard work,” President Uhuru said.

The late Murathe was the father of Jubilee Party Vice-Chairman David Wakairu Murathe, a former Gatanga MP.
