Migori violence uncalled for

Kenyans should embrace one another during this campaign period. The recent attack on Suna East MP Junet Mohamed and his counterparts in Migori Country is uncalled for and should be condemned. Action should be taken against those who planned the attack that left several people injured, including Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho’s bodyguard. As we gear for the elections, we should be able to give room to new ideas even though we might disagree; we still remain one nation under one blood. Steven Hillary, Maseno.

Election date is just a few months away and the cases of insecurity during political rallies are alarming. What happened in Migori was not pleasing and it is evident that some of our political leaders are not for peace. Although this rally involved only ODM politicians, it is clear that some people had planned some mischief, and this is not good. Some Kenyans have not healed from the 2007/08 post-election violence. Always preach peace, fellow countrymen. Bertha Chomo, Kisumu.

Kenyan politicians should not use words that can trigger violence between their supporters. We would not like a repeat of 2008. Politicians should not interfere with their rivals’ campaigns as this will lead to violence and we have yet to cast our votes. Kaunda Maxwell, Nairobi.

This country is so divided that any comment made is interpreted in an ethnic light. Is there any law that states that a governor who is not even a party official must be there when the deputy party leader is opening a party office? This was purely a party affair, not a county one. As much as most of you hate Joho because of his differences with one of your own, please give him a break. Joseph Ojodeh, via mail.

What the hell is happening in Kenya? There are guns everywhere. The election violence door is slowly and surely being opened. Once it is ajar, it will be quite difficult to close again, as was evident in 2007/2008. Indeed, election violence is likely to be quite deadly because there are so many guns in the wrong hands. NASA and Jubilee must form a bipartisan anti-election violence committee to avoid tragedy in 2017. Gukhu Savai, via mail
